Litter Less Campaign (LLC) Programme

Less Litter,
More Impact
Imagine a world where young people take the lead in tackling litter and waste issues in their own communities.
Through the Litter Less Campaign (LLC), students and youth are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to make real changes—reducing waste, influencing others, and reshaping their environment for the better.

A collaborative initiative by the Mars Wrigley Foundation and the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), the Litter Less Campaign expanded in 2022 by partnering with the World Organisation of Scout Movement (WOSM). With this expansion, the campaign now extends beyond classrooms, reaching youth through informal education and real-world action.
How It Works?
From classroom investigations to real-world action, young school scouts aged 10 to 17 years old are taking the lead in the Litter Less Campaign! Through powerful articles, videos, and photography, they shine a light on local litter and waste challenges—not just reporting problems, but driving solutions.

But their impact doesn’t stop there! These young changemakers share their work with local media, raising awareness within their communities. Their best journalistic pieces can be submitted to the National Young Reporters for the Environment (NYRE) competition, and winners get the chance to compete internationally!

Beyond storytelling, participants organise action days and develop strategies to tackle waste in their schools and neighborhoods—turning their words into real change.

With the support of their teachers, students in the Litter Less Campaign (LLC) are investigating, reporting, and taking action to tackle litter and waste issues. Here’s how they’re making an impact:

1. Investigate and report on litter and waste issues
2. Plan and implement a Litter Less media campaign, that focuses on any pollution aspect that bothers them. The plan of the media campaign should include:
-
Solutions for the litter and waste issue media plan for the school year
-
Expected results and the number of media reach.
3. Work as a team and act as leaders for the whole school community (e.g. motivate other students to implement the proposed solution(s)
4. Organise Community Action Days and participate in activities related to the LLC and LLC Plus
5. Produce media pieces in the form of photos, videos or written articles for public viewing
