About YRE
Are you ready to make a difference and have your voice heard?
The Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) Programme is your stage to investigate, report, and inspire change on the environmental issues that matter most to you!
Through writing, photography, and video, YRE empowers young change makers (ages 10 - 24) to tell compelling environmental stories and spark real action. It’s more than just a competition—it’s a movement of passionate youth using media to expose problems, celebrate solutions, and demand change.
Your words, photos, and videos can reach decision-makers, influence policies, and create real impact. This is your chance to turn awareness into action—because the planet needs storytellers like YOU!

What We Do
At YRE Malaysia, we equip young changemakers with the skills and platform to investigate environmental issues, report on them effectively, and inspire action. Our core activities provide hands-on experiences in journalism, storytelling, and advocacy.

National Young Reporters for the Environment (NYRE) Competition
Our flagship annual competition challenges students aged 10-24 to showcase their environmental storytelling skills. Winners gain national recognition, and selected outstanding work may even be submitted to the international YRE competition!

YRE ToT Workshops
We conduct interactive Training of Trainers (ToT) workshops covering the essentials of investigative environmental journalism, including article writing, photography and videography.

YRE Ambassadors
YRE Ambassadors have the chance to engage in exclusive events, media opportunities, and collaborations with Green Growth Asia Foundation (GGAF).

Global Opportunities
Through our partnership with the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), YRE Malaysia gain access to global challenges discussion and international media exposure. This is a chance for Malaysian youth to have their voices heard on a global stage!
